LEGIONNAIRES DISEASE
18TH March
There has been a scare in the resort as legionnaires disease has been found in one of the hotels cooling towers in the Desert Gardens Hotel around the same time that I was staying there waiting to move into my accommodation. Apparently a tourist from Norway contracted the disease around the same time that he was visiting out here. Coincidence maybe?? We had a big meeting and the whole of the resort staff attended so we understood what was going on and what was being done about it. This is a form of Pneumonia and has an incubation period of about 10 days. It is passed by breathing in tiny water droplets or water vapour. This time has well and truly passed now so we are all hoping that the tower in question has been ridded of the germ. At the moment there are still tests being done to ensure complete safety for everyone. The tower in question is still closed and so are the rooms directly around it.
